Hydrangea paniculata Magical Mont Blanc brings dense conical flowerheads to a compact, upright shrub. Green-tipped blooms turn white, with flowers from July through September above dark green ovate leaves. Straight, sturdy stems hold the panicles, making this cultivar useful in flower borders, containers, and cut-flower plantings.
Grow it in moist, well-drained soil in partial shade, or in full sun if the soil stays reliably moist. In late winter, cut back last year’s growth to encourage more flowerheads while retaining the older framework. Work organic matter into chalky soil before planting.
The plant can irritate skin and is harmful to pets if eaten; handle it with gloves and keep pets from chewing it.
