Agastache Blue Fortune is a sterile hybrid of Agastache foeniculum and Agastache rugosa. It forms a bushy upright clump of strong square stems carrying aromatic green leaves with a mint and liquorice scent.
Dense lavender-blue tubular flowers open in rounded whorls along bottlebrush-like spikes from midsummer into early autumn. The long display attracts bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds and also provides useful stems for fresh or dried arrangements.
Plant in full sun in neutral to alkaline, moist but freely drained soil. Established plants tolerate heat and brief dry periods, but winter wet must be avoided. Apply a controlled-release fertilizer in spring at the label rate and avoid excessive feeding because it can produce lanky growth.
