Magnolia loebneri Leonard Messel many star-shaped flowers open pink outside and nearly white within before the leaves. The rounded small tree flowers young and tolerates late frost better than many magnolias. It matures to about 450 to 750 cm high and 350 to 600 cm wide, giving it a clear role in architectural planting. Its pink, white flowers are expected from March, April.
Give Magnolia loebneri Leonard Messel full sun or partial shade; protect it from avoidable heat or drying wind while roots establish. Keep soil evenly moist while establishing, then water during extended dry periods without leaving roots waterlogged. Prune only when necessary, immediately after flowering, removing damaged or crossing wood. Watch for scale insects, aphids, and capsid bugs may occur.
