Salvia nemorosa Sensation Deep Rose is a compact perennial with narrow, aromatic gray-green leaves and upright spikes of deep rose-pink flowers set above dark red calyces. Its main display runs from late spring through summer, bringing bees and butterflies to border edges, gravel gardens, wildlife plantings, and outdoor containers.
Grow it in full sun or light partial shade in moderately fertile, well-drained soil. Water regularly while plants establish, then allow the soil to dry slightly between waterings. Cut back spent flower spikes to encourage another flush, remove dried foliage in early spring, and apply only a thin layer of compost rather than heavy feeding.
