Potentilla fruticosa Goldstar forms a low, spreading dome of grey-green pinnate foliage and large golden-yellow flowers, bringing months of colour to sunny borders.
Its compact outline works especially well in rock gardens, gravel planting, containers and repeated low masses. The shrub tolerates exposed sites and a wide range of well-drained soils.
Give it sun or light shade and steady moisture while it establishes. Renew older growth in late winter and take softwood cuttings in early summer when propagation is wanted.
