Rhododendron Prinses Máxima forms a compact, bushy evergreen shrub with an upright, rounded outline and dark green leaves. In May, clusters of double cream, pink, and white flowers open with prominent red spotting across the petals.
Grow it in sheltered partial shade in moist but well-drained, leafy, humus-rich acidic soil. Keep the soil moist, water thoroughly during dry weather, and mulch annually with leaf mold. Pruning is usually unnecessary; tidy wayward shoots after flowering if needed.
The plant is harmful if eaten. Keep pets from chewing it and wear gloves when handling it.
