Andromeda polifolia Blue Ice forms a low, spreading evergreen ground cover with icy blue foliage and clusters of small pink bells in spring. It stays roughly 5 to 20 inches tall and spreads 20 to 40 inches wide, fitting damp acidic borders, bog gardens, pond margins, and containers.
Grow it in moist, humus-rich acidic soil in full sun to shade, keeping the roots from drying out. Apply fertilizer for acid-loving plants in spring and mulch with pine bark. The plant is toxic if eaten, so keep it away from food gardens.
