Fragrant pink flower sprays give Syringa Red Pixie its main display in late spring. Red buds open deep pink and soften to pale pink, and a second flush may appear in late summer or early fall. The compact, bushy shrub reaches about 3 to 5 feet high and wide, fitting flowering borders and large patio containers.
Choose full sun with fertile, humus-rich, well-drained soil that is neutral to alkaline. Water while it establishes, and lightly prune after flowering when a second flush is wanted. Small green leaves turn yellow in fall before dropping.
