Picea glauca var. albertiana Sanders Blue is a slow-growing dwarf Alberta spruce with a dense, neat conical outline. Its small needles form an irregular mosaic of gray-blue, blue-green, and green as wax-coated juvenile sectors mature or revert.
Grow it in full sun in deep, moist but well-drained acidic or neutral soil. It suits rock gardens, courtyards, patio containers, and compact foundation beds. Cool summers and good air circulation support healthy dense foliage; remove vigorous green reversion shoots.
