Phlox maculata Alpha is an erect, bushy herbaceous perennial with narrow smooth green leaves and slender stems topped by fragrant cylindrical panicles. Rounded lilac-pink flowers open in early summer, often showing subtle lighter streaking and a deeper eye.
Grow it in fertile, humus-rich, moist but well-drained soil in full sun or partial shade. Maintain even moisture during active growth, mulch lightly without covering crowns, deadhead for continued bloom, and cut stems to the base in late autumn. Divide established clumps as needed and maintain good air movement to reduce mildew risk.
