Fragrant white flower panicles rise above the compact, rounded growth of Buddleja davidii White Ball through summer, drawing butterflies, bees, and other pollinating insects. Narrow gray-green foliage keeps the shrub light in appearance between blooms.
This dwarf butterfly bush fits sunny borders, courtyards, gravel gardens, and large patio containers. Allow 3 to 5 feet for its mature height and spread, and plant it in moist but well-drained soil.
Water while it establishes, then avoid soggy soil. Prune lightly in spring to retain its dense rounded framework. Removing spent flower clusters may encourage a second flush.
The flowers and fruit are potentially poisonous if eaten; do not eat them.
