Green leaves cover the branches through summer and turn yellow in fall. A mature plant reaches about 7 to 10 feet tall and about 7 feet wide. Full sun or partial shade and moist, well-drained soil support steady growth, while most ordinary soils are suitable.
Water regularly while the shrub becomes established. Thin obstructive basal branches in late autumn to keep the framework open. The pollen may trigger respiratory allergies, so place the shrub away from frequently used seating when pollen is a concern.
