Vitis vinifera Heike is an upright grapevine for a sunny trellis, pergola, or wall, where it carries loose clusters of round, seedless red grapes from late summer into early fall. The fruit is very sweet and suited to eating fresh.
Grow it in fertile, well-drained soil and keep the roots evenly moist while the vine is active. Winter framework pruning and summer shoot shortening keep the trained vine productive and open. The grapes are toxic if eaten by dogs; keep ripe and fallen fruit out of their reach.
