Thuja Plicata Whipcord is a compact, slow-growing evergreen conifer. Long, thin, glossy green sprays rise from the center and arch downward, producing a distinctive fountain-like mound that becomes more rounded with age. The foliage develops bronze shading in winter.
Grow it in full sun or partial shade in moist, fertile, well-drained soil. It suits architectural planting, foundations, rock gardens, urban courtyards, and containers. Shelter it from cold drying winds and do not allow the root zone to dry out.
No routine pruning is required. Propagate by semi-ripe cuttings in late summer. Wear gloves when handling because the plant is harmful if eaten and may cause a skin allergy.
