Platycladus orientalis Aurea Nana is a slow-growing dwarf evergreen with a compact oval to rounded outline. Dense, upright sprays carry bright yellow-green foliage, with the clearest golden color at the shoot tips. The foliage develops bronze tones in winter, extending the plant’s seasonal presence in a small garden.
Use it in a sunny rock or gravel garden, a patio container, a low hedge, or a compact screen. Its neat scale and dense structure also work well near entrances and in mixed borders. Full sun brings out the brightest color, while moist but well-drained soil supports steady growth.
Water moderately during the first growing season, avoid waterlogged ground, and shelter young plants from drying winds. Remove dead or damaged shoots in late winter or early spring. The plant is harmful if eaten and may irritate skin or eyes; wear gloves when handling.
