Dianthus deltoides Flashing Light spreads into a low evergreen mat of narrow green leaves. Fragrant single ruby-red flowers, each marked by a darker red central ring, cover the planting from late spring through summer, with bloom sometimes continuing into early autumn.
This Benary cultivar fills sunny border fronts, rock gardens, gravel planting, and containers. Give it full sun and neutral to alkaline soil with sharp drainage. The flowers attract bees and butterflies, and established plants tolerate dry periods.
