Arching branches turn Prunus Kiku-shidare-zakura into a small weeping focal tree, with fully double pink flowers clustered along bare wood in spring. Bronze new leaves mature to green, while peeling coppery bark remains visible after leaf fall.
Plant it in full sun in a courtyard, cottage border, patio garden, or lawn where the complete crown has room to spread. Provide moderately fertile, moist but well-drained soil and water regularly during establishment. Prune only as needed for shape after flowering. Leaves, stems, and seeds are toxic if eaten by pets and horses; keep fallen or pruned material out of reach.
