Rhododendron Hachmanns Polaris forms a compact, bushy evergreen mound with dark green foliage. In late spring, carmine-red buds open into bell-shaped, light purplish-pink flowers with darker edges, and the flowers attract pollinators.
Grow it in moist but well-drained acidic soil in partial shade, with shelter from drying winds. Its restrained size suits containers, low hedges, woodland edges, and smaller borders. Apply an ericaceous feed in spring and again after flowering, and remove wayward shoots only after bloom when needed.
This plant is harmful if eaten. Keep plant material away from people and pets.
