Coin-shaped leaves let Lysimachia nummularia form a fresh green carpet only a few inches tall. Runners can spread 1 to 3 feet across flat moist beds and walkway edges, while yellow cup-shaped flowers appear in spring and summer. The vigorous mat is useful where broad coverage is wanted.
Sun produces more flowers, while partial shade is also suitable. Keep soil consistently moist and apply only a light spring compost layer. Trim wandering stems during spring and summer, or cut tired growth back after flowering. Divide rooted sections in spring or early fall. Slugs, rust, and leaf spots may occur in dense damp patches.
