Rosa hybrida AUSmerchant, marketed as Princess Alexandra of Kent, is a vigorous bushy rounded English shrub rose. Reddish prickles, purple-red new growth, and medium-green foliage frame exceptionally large densely double flowers.
Red buds open into glowing warm-pink, deeply cupped old-fashioned rosettes, darker toward their crowded centers and paler outside. The strong fresh tea fragrance develops lemon and blackcurrant notes as repeat flowers continue from late spring through autumn.
Grow in full sun or partial shade in fertile humus-rich moist but well-drained soil. Mulch and feed in spring, water regularly without waterlogging, deadhead through flowering, and prune the rounded framework in late winter or early spring.
