Brunnera macrophylla Silver Heart is a deciduous, rhizomatous perennial forming an open mound of large heart-shaped leaves. Their predominantly Silver surfaces are marked by thin Green veins and margins, creating a luminous effect in shaded borders.
Airy cymes of small Blue forget-me-not-like flowers rise above the foliage in spring. Grow this cultivar in full shade or partial shade in sheltered, humus-rich soil that remains moist but drains freely.
Water regularly while plants establish and during dry periods. Apply a light mulch of compost or leaf mould in spring. Established clumps need no routine pruning and may be divided when necessary.
