Astilbe Radius is a clump-forming perennial with glossy divided green foliage and red-tinged emerging leaves. Burgundy stems carry airy, densely branched panicles of fragrant bright red flowers in summer.
Use the upright display in shaded borders, woodland gardens, cottage planting, pond margins, or fresh cut arrangements. Deer and rabbits usually avoid the foliage.
Grow in fertile clay or loam that stays consistently moist but does not remain waterlogged. Apply a summer compost mulch to retain soil moisture, and divide crowded clumps in early spring.
