Large pure-white flowers with light-red margins and a red upper-petal blotch distinguish Rhododendron Hachmanns Charmant in late spring and early summer. This broad, upright evergreen shrub reaches about 4 feet high and 5 feet wide after ten years, with large medium-green elliptic leaves behind high, dome-shaped trusses of 17 to 19 wide-open, 9 cm flowers.
Grow this cultivar in acidic, humus-rich soil that stays evenly moist but drains freely. Partial shade is ideal, while full sun is suitable where the soil remains cool. It works well in flowering borders, woodland and shade gardens, or a large patio container.
