Large two-tone flowers make Clematis Doctor Ruppel a compact choice for covering a trellis, wall, pergola, or container support. Pale pink tepals carry a wide deep reddish-pink central bar, with a first display in late spring and early summer and another in late summer to early fall.
The deciduous climber reaches about 8 to 13 feet tall and 5 to 8 feet wide. It grows in full sun or partial shade in moist, well-drained soil, with the root area kept cool and shaded. The plant may irritate skin and is toxic if eaten by pets or grazing animals; wear gloves when handling it.
