Diable d’Or ninebark brings strong foliage contrast to a mixed border or informal screen. Copper-orange young leaves deepen to burgundy and red-purple, while small white flowers form rounded clusters from late spring into early summer. Red ornamental fruits follow, and established stems reveal peeling red-brown bark. The shrub develops an upright, rounded outline about 1.5 to 2 m high and around 1.5 m wide.
Grow it in full sun or partial shade in moist but well-drained clay, loam, or sandy soil. Strong light gives the richest foliage color. Water regularly while new roots establish, then allow the soil surface to begin drying between thorough soakings. Add compost around the root zone in spring without piling it against the stems. Avoid routine hard cutting; prune after flowering if shaping is needed, or thin a few old stems in late winter or early spring. It suits hedges, mixed borders, and pollinator-friendly planting.
